Our Lady of Lourdes Primary is a warm and welcoming Catholic school community intent on learning to ‘know, love and serve’ God. With our strong focus on developing school and parish community ties, Our Lady of Lourdes is a school where family and friends are welcomed and valued. Our students are encouraged in their faith and are given many opportunities to get involved in a wide range of sporting and creative activities designed to develop each student holistically.

This festival marks the day the London Missionary Society first arrived in Torres Strait. The missionaries landed at Erub (Darnley Island) on 1 July 1871, introducing Christianity to the region. This is a significant day for Torres Strait Islanders, who are predominantly of Christian faith. Religious and cultural ceremonies across Torres Strait and mainland Australia are held annually on 1 July.
